THE Dallas Zoo - Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo

Lead wildlife Interpreter – The J. C. Penney Discovery House
Led a team of staff and volunteers in educating and entertaining zoo visitors on animals and nature.
Created protocol and trained staff and volunteers on animal handling and interpretive techniques for live animal
encounters with the public.
Performed customer service and guest relations duties for the Children’s Zoo.
Developed and presented educational programs for zoo visitors, schools and community groups. These programs
included theater performances, storytelling, songs, and live animal encounters.
Responsible for inventory and ordering of all supplies for the Discovery House. This included books, learning
materials, office supplies, and supplies and equipment for care of the animals.
Created and illustrated handouts, coloring books, signs and visual aids, and educational materials.
Liaison to the SPCA of Texas, maintaining a display and coordinating programs in the Children’s Zoo on humane
education.

was located in Dallas.

Screened and counseled adoption applicants and served as cashier for payment of adoption fees.

Part of a team that created curriculum and training for Head Start directors and teachers in
Texas and surrounding five-state region. Responsible for daily operations of the Dallas branch office, including inventory and ordering of office equipment and supplies.

Illustrated educational materials, brochures, and posters, and edited and illustrated monthly newsletter.

Assist in training and mentoring new volunteers. Have led orientations for over 50 volunteers.

and signs. Wrote and illustrated two
coloring books, one of which won a national award and is endorsed by The Humane Society of the United States and
the Centers for Disease Control.
Awarded Clinic volunteer and Public Relations Volunteer of the year for 2004. Awarded Foster Care Volunteer
of the Year in 2003 and SPCA Volunteer of the Year in 1995. Nominated for national President’s Service
Award in 1997.
